Both suspects in Ohio festival shooting that injured 12 in custody, police say
Two suspects have been detained so far in connection with a recent shooting at a community street festival in Ohio, authorities announced Wednesday. On June 6, 12 people were shot during what appeared to be a dispute between two individuals at Toledo’s annual Old West End Festival. No arrests were made for several days, as police searched for the responsible parties. The Toledo Police Department revealed this week that Ka Nye Taylor was arrested in Columbus. The development marks Taylor as the second suspect connected to the shooting after police arrested Eljay Crisp-Carr on June 11. Both men are 20 years old and have been charged with 11 counts of felonious assault. The Toledo Police Department confirmed Wednesday that all 12 of the shooting victims have been released from the hospital, according to WTVG. One person was hit in the head when gunshots were fired into the festival crowd and required surgery, according to court records. The shooting rattled the community, triggering a call from Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH) to stand against violence. MAN ACCUSED OF SHOOTING NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS IN DC PLEADS NOT GUILTY “I am deeply concerned about the situation in Toledo,” he said. “Summer festivals should be safe spaces for families to spend time together without fear of violence.” “Fran and I are praying for everyone impacted by the incident at the Old West End Festival, and we are confident that law enforcement will locate the suspects involved in this senseless crime,” the governor added.
